I haven't done a Shopping with OFM post in four forevers, y'all. To get back into the swing of things, I thought I'd share my awesome-ness from today. This isn't gonna be about grocery and drug store dealios! I had some time today between a meeting and a doctor's appointment to search for a few items at local thrift stores. In other words, I wasn't browsing. I was on a mission and I had a time frame. I was looking for the following items:
a pair of jeans for Mr. OFM
some more cutlery
a colander
a couple of cake/cookie plates
a grape vine wreath
trading card holder
a food processor (this was the main item I needed today)
I asked OFM facebook friends which local thrift store they would try for a food processor. Pam suggested Repairers of the Breach on Washington Street. I knew I wanted Goodwill on Highway 278 for the cutlery and the jeans. With as much a plan as I usually have, I set out this morning. I had even less time after my meeting went a little long. It was a good thing though because I think the CovNews and I are gonna make some magic happen soon.
Alrighty, y'all. This is what I found. The price I paid is noted. I apologize for the darkness of the pics, friends. I just can't seem to get them any lighter. Technology can be so hard for old people. {Sigh.}
Wait until you see the incredible find I made today! I'm saving it for the very end. It's awesome sauce times a gajillion!

grape vine wreath- 25 cents
I plan to pull all that yuck off (it's just stuck in, not even glued on there.) and upcycle it for a cool new wreath featuring a Namaste plaque and some owls. I would have paid around $5 for this at Hobby Lobby. The condition of the wreath is excellent.
faboo purse- $2.97
It wasn't on my list, I know, but sometimes when you find fabulous-ness, you have to splurge. It was half off blue tagged items at Goodwill, so this was an incredible bargain and it's mah color, too.

jeans- $3.52
Again, the Goodwill half price blue tags awesome-ness. These are SouthPole label jeans and are pretty expensive. NOT something my man would normally wear- they're baggy, and pricey and way young, but I think he's adorable in baggy jeans and he'll wear them because he loves me.

food processor- $3
I found this beauty stuffed back on the shelves at Repairer of the Breach- just like Pam knew I would! This is a Moulinex La Machine II. What I like most about this food processor, after testing it and smelling it in the store like a crazy person, is that it is just as old as the machine I had and just as durable. (Fingers crossed.) I'm guessing this model is from the early 80s. All the blades, the bowl, and machine are in good condition. The owner's manual was included. I'm pretty happy with this one and, if it lasts me a year, it will have been worth the $3. (Thanks, Pam, for the suggestion!)

cutlery- $1.01
You can get 6 pieces of cutlery for that awesome price at Goodwill. I like to give it a quick once over every time I go in just in casies. I found some faboo pieces today. Very happy with this.

spoon rest- 10 cents
Total silly-ness, I know, but my spoon rest broke and this one has NEW ORLEANS written on it. I miss New Orleans. It was like taking a quick trip in my head and I'll smile every time I see it.

colander- 50 cents
My colander had a crack in it and finally bit the dust last week. I needed one bad, but I was willing to go on into the dollar store and pick up one of those to save some money. I found this nice thick plastic colander at RotB and, like most thrift store finds, it just needed a little cleaning.

ceramic panda planter- 25 cents
Sorry this is a particularly crappy pic. This was not on my list, but I'm gonna plant some bamboo in this and make it part of my middle-Little's birthday present in March. She LOVES pandas and has been asking for some plants for her room.

trading card holder- 35 cents
This is not for trading cards. I wanted them for starting seeds (an idea I found on Pinterest!). I can start 144 seeds with this faboo find.

two cake/cookie plates- 60 cents
Every time I go to a thrift store, I'm on the look out for plates I can give away when I share homemade goodies. It's a nice touch and so much fancier than a plastic tray or tin. I don't know if that little retro tree is ever gonna be given away. It just makes me smile. That may be my new scone plate for those early morning just me breakfasts. :o)

The Super Mega Awesome Fabulous Find of the Day
As promised, I saved it for last and it was worth the wait, friends! I picked up this faboo little cup at Goodwill for 77 cents. I don't like paying more than a quarter max for coffee mugs because they break all the dang time around my house. Two of my three Littles are hot tea drinkers and I'm a coffee whore- I mean, drinker! We tend to go through a bunch of mugs and we keep a eclectic collection of them. We'll pick up whatever suits our fancy. This one suited mine. It's a replica of a 3rd class coffee cup from the Titanic. Well worth 77 cents to me.
I thought WOW! Someone totally got that as a souvenir when the exhibit came through Atlanta and freaking donated it to Goodwill and now it is mine! I didn't get to go to that exhibit and this little cup just made me so, so happy. I did an internet search to find out how much this mug was selling for so I could give y'all a cost comparison and check this out...
The. Same. Exact. Cup. is selling for $99.99 on eBay! Seriously! I tried finding links for purchasing the cup from a museum replica store and could find nothing. I think that I just earned at least $99.22 cents on that cup today. I'm a little bummed that I won't be able to bring myself to drink out of it now, but I'll get over that!
Out of pocket, I spent $13.32. I saved a ton of money- I mean, it's hard to determine when you factor in depreciation of used goods and such. I wouldn't buy new on any of these items, so even by my standards of second hand being more than good enough, this was a super mega awesome fabulous day. I found what I needed at great prices without spending a ton of time in a bunch of stores. PLUS, let's not forget that INCREDIBLE Titanic cup. Lawds mercy, that just makes me giggle.
Since I was already out that way, I stopped by the Willing Helpers food pantry at Solid Rock Baptist Church on Brown Bridge Road. Seriously a spur of the moment decision, but I remembered it was Thursday and that they have day time hours on Thursdays. I did a post about how wonderful this place is a while back. For $8 a box, you can get so much food to supplement your family. My family qualifies for 2 boxes every week because there are five of us. I really didn't need another box, but because the money I spend there helps the Willing Helpers ministry, I was happy to get another to share with my neighbors. I picked up allllllll of this for $16.
fruits & veggies- 2 bunches of celery, 1 pack of frozen brussel sprouts, 2 beautiful pears, 8 apples, 22 ounces of fresh blueberries, 2 ginormous containers of salad greens, and a gracious plenty of snap beans
bakery- mini toasted coconut doughnuts, 2 packages of cake balls, blueberry scones
This is a real treat for my family because we rarely consume store bought baked goods. The Littles will attack the scones tomorrow and I'm serving the cake balls at the little-Little's sleepover this weekend.

canned & boxed foods- 2 corn, 1 green beans, 4 beans, tartar sauce, grape jelly, 2 mac & cheeses
meat- 2 pounds of pork sausage patties
breads- 4 packs of bagels, 2 packs of whole wheat hot dog buns, 2 (16) packs of sandwich thins, 1 loaf of Italian bread, 2 loaves of sandwich bread, and 2 boxes of brownie bites (I don't know why I grouped those with the breads.)
unexpected fabulousness- 2 bottles of snow cone syrup! My Littles LOVE snow cones. I keep the syrup all year round, buying it in the off season. I make these for the high school band during band camp, too. YAY! Not pictured are about 20 tubes of peanut butter and jelly. I think that is gonna go over BIG in lunches.
I could have also picked up 20 bags of hot potato chips, but I passed on those. Wasn't all of this an incredible bargain for just $16?!
Total spent today was $29.32. I saved a ton, got everything accomplished quickly, found fabulous-ness, and lived to tell the tale. Don't you wish all your shopping trips were like this? They can be if you shop the OFM way! Peace, B.
